HRAH defends fundamental freedoms, safeguards human dignity, and advances justice and equality through research,
coordination, human rights advocacy, and support for individuals in vulnerable situations. Our work is conducted
both within the United States and internationally.
We operate in full accordance with the U.S. Constitution and widely recognized principles of democracy, freedom, and human rights.
Core focus areas
- Human trafficking and exploitation; survivor support in lawful formats
- Protection of women who survived violence/exploitation; support for women entrepreneurs
- Public safety support: countering drug trafficking and related crime
- Digital harms: censorship, discrimination, and civil liberties in the information sphere
Technology and AI safety
- Monitoring unlawful AI use (including deepfakes and AI-enabled fraud)
- Development of practical countermeasures and public-benefit software
- Research, documentation, and transparency-oriented analysis
Cy pres alignment (nexus)
We seek cy pres awards only where there is a clear and defensible nexus between the claims, the class interests,
the purposes of the underlying statutes, and HRAH’s programs.
1) Human trafficking, exploitation, and gender-based violence
Relevant for cases involving exploitation, coercion, systemic abuse, and harms affecting women and children.
- Survivor support navigation (referral-based assistance and coordination)
- Documentation and analysis of exploitation patterns
- Prevention, outreach, and safety resources for at-risk groups
2) Digital harms, censorship, discrimination, and civil liberties
Relevant for cases tied to digital platforms, discriminatory practices, and civil liberties impacts in the information sphere.
- Research and documentation of rights violations
- Lawful support to affected individuals (intake and documentation guidance)
- Public-interest reporting and transparency-focused analysis
3) Unlawful use of AI, deepfakes, fraud, and digital exploitation
Relevant for technology-driven harms including AI-enabled deception, deepfake abuse, and automated fraud.
- Monitoring and research on unlawful/harmful AI applications
- Development of practical countermeasures (tools, workflows, education)
- Protective guidance for vulnerable populations
4) Women survivors, family integrity, and protection of children
Relevant for matters involving harassment, coercion, exploitation, or predatory practices affecting women and families.
- Survivor-focused navigation and resource coordination
- Programs protecting family stability and child welfare
- Research on recurring abuse patterns and prevention models

How we accept and use cy pres funds
HRAH can accept cy pres distributions as unrestricted general support (where permitted) or as restricted, program-designated funds.
Restricted use is often preferred for clear nexus and streamlined reporting.

Independence and conflict-of-interest safeguards
HRAH is committed to independence and transparency. Upon request, we can provide a written COI statement addressing:
- Any known personal or financial relationships with class counsel, defense counsel, settlement administrators, or related entities
- Willingness to disclose potential connections prior to nomination
- Agreement to reasonable court-approved conditions that reduce legal and reputational risk
How to nominate HRAH as a cy pres recipient
If you are class counsel, defense counsel, a settlement administrator, or a party representative, you may nominate HRAH for consideration.

- Short description of the class and claims
- Estimated residual amount (if known) and anticipated timing
- Use restrictions and reporting requirements (if applicable)

Option A — General (Unrestricted)
Any residual settlement funds that cannot be feasibly distributed to Settlement Class Members, after completion of all authorized settlement payments and expenses, shall be distributed, subject to Court approval, to HUMAN RIGHTS & ANALYTICAL HOUSE, INC. (HRAH), a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support its public-interest programs aligned with the objectives of the Settlement and the interests of the Settlement Class.
Option B — Restricted / Program-Designated
Any residual settlement funds that cannot be feasibly distributed to Settlement Class Members, after completion of all authorized settlement payments and expenses, shall be distributed, subject to Court approval, to HUMAN RIGHTS & ANALYTICAL HOUSE, INC. (HRAH), a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, restricted to support [Program Name / Category], consistent with the objectives of the Settlement and the interests of the Settlement Class.
Option C — Multiple Recipients (Pro Rata)
Any residual settlement funds that cannot be feasibly distributed to Settlement Class Members, after completion of all authorized settlement payments and expenses, shall be distributed, subject to Court approval, to one or more cy pres recipients, including HUMAN RIGHTS & ANALYTICAL HOUSE, INC. (HRAH), in proportions determined by the Court or as set forth in this Agreement, to support public-interest programs bearing a reasonable nexus to the claims and the Settlement Class.
